Why biomass?

Heating with wood biomass is virtually carbon neutral because the same amount of carbon dioxide is released when the wood is burned as is absortd while the tree is growing.

If the wood was not burnt, the carbon dioxide would be release as the dead tree rottred. Even taking in to account processing and transportation of the fuel, the carbon dioxide emissions produced by burning biomass are incredibly low compared to other heating technologies.
