What is Biomass?

Biomass is a type of renewable heating system that uses wood or wood pellets as fuel. It comes in the form of a system with a boiler, pipes and radiators.

How does it work?

If the wood was not burnt, the carbon dioxide would be release as the dead tree rottred. Even taking in to account processing and transportation of the fuel, the carbon dioxide emissions produced by burning biomass are incredibly low compared to other heating technologies.

Heating with wood biomass is virtually carbon neutral because the same amount of carbon dioxide is released when the wood is burned as is absorbed while the tree is growing.
